This stage is currently in progress, with building work underway. Funding was secured through the UK Government Community Ownership Fund (COF), Foyle Foundation, Swire Charitable Trust and Arts and Business NI.

The Enabling Phase works include:

  • Architects working drawings
  • Foundation installation
  • Demolition works
  • Installation of internal walls and stair / lift circulation shaft
  • Damp proofing and drainage installation
  • Rainwater goods repaired / replaced
  • Creation of double height main training room by removing first floor

  • Structural repairs to window lintels

Phase 2 Saving the Heritage

The timing of phase two will be dependent on the fundraising campaign which is underway. This phase of the Cathedral School building works is required to save the building, preserve its integrity, and ensure it is safe and usable. Phase-2 works include restoration of original heritage features including the spiral staircase and reinstating the spire according to the original designs; mechanical & electrical works; plumbing; carpentry; fire safety infrastructure; accessibility works.

Phase 3 Circus Equipment Installation

The final phase of the project will involve a full fit-out of specialised equipment. Rigging and trapeze will be installed along with specialist acrobatic and performance apparatus.
