We are working hard behind the scenes to ensure we successfully move into the Cathedral School and develop a home which meets the needs of our artists, participants and audiences.
In March 2024 IYSC were awarded £601,000 from the Community Ownership Fund (Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government). This funding helps us begin the building process and supports the next step towards turning the dream into reality. It follows a resilience grant of £140,000 in 2023 from the National Lottery Heritage Fund which enabled us to start the project planning.
Fundraising plans are in place to ensure we reach our target, and we have undertaken community engagement activity, including distributing surveys and introducing the building to existing and new audiences, stakeholders and advocates.
Performance events hosted in the Cathedral School building provided a taste of how the space will be transformed by the colour, light and laughter of Circus.
Mullarkey Pedersen Architects are leading the design process, ensuring the redevelopment will enhance and celebrate the heritage of the building.

Our aim is to open the doors to the Cathedral School Circus School in January 2027.
